Dr. Ed Blanton, a Florida native, opened his practice in Leesburg in 1989 after spending more than 10 years as a dentist in the U.S. Army. A 1973 graduate of the University of Florida, he earned his DDS degree at the College of Dentistry at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond in 1977.

In 1978, he completed his dental internship at Martin Army Hospital in Fort Benning, Ga., before pursuing a specialization in oral surgery. He completed his residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery in 1985 at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, and earned board certification from the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 1987. He is a fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

Today, he attends frequent continuing education seminars to remain abreast of the most advanced techniques in his profession.
